Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has been a chef and television personality in the United States and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark spikey blonde hair and bubbly personality, reveals simple to learn techniques and eliminates anxiety about restaurant food in her show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell also worked at several of the city's most prestigious restaurants, has learned about the Italian food and culture and has participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love of cooking and food at a young age. Following her graduation with an English and Communication degree in Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the industry of restaurants by registering at The Culinary Institute of America. I was awed by every minute of being a student of The Culinary Institute of America she declares. I was unable to learn enough, didn't do enough couldn't work hard enough. After graduating Chef Burrell was in Italy for a year, taking classes at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She also worked in La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) located in Tuscany. In Italy the chef acquired an appreciation for and understanding of Italian culinary traditions. This had an enormous effect on the way she thinks about food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that assists children with obstacles. She speaks about her cooking passion, and also shares her knowledge of the culinary world, as she regularly is in the United States for the roles of mentors and speakers. Anne, throughout her entire culinary journey has stated that it's an honor to have the opportunity to share this passion for food with other people.
